If your captions can’t hook viewers’ attention in the first few seconds, you are probably doing it wrong. Start with a punchy line. Ask a relatable question. Poke at your viewers. In all, your captions should be catchy enough to hook attention from the get-go. 

Okay, your captions are catchy, but are they relevant? Does’t it align to what you are trying to communicate? Unfortunately, catchy isn’t enough - it also has to be relevant. Make sure your caption complements the image or video you are sharing. Let it tell a story - or at least spark a conversation.

Using plain text will make your captions boring - nobody likes to read a boring Instagram caption. But adding emojis to your captions can make them super engaging. But only use them sparingly, or else they will become an annoyance. 

What do you want viewers to do after reading your captions? Well, they won’t do it unless you tell them. This is where a CTA (call-to-action) comes in handy. Encourage engagement by asking a question, inviting comments, or prompting followers to like or share in your captions.
